Export & Animal Exports

Every year, millions of animals face the terrifying and dreadful prospect of being transported hundreds or thousands of miles in awful conditions

A number of animal charities are involved in campaigns to stop live animal export over such distances such as Stop the Trucks

Each year at least 1 billion poultry and 37 million live cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and equines are transported over long distances within the EU and to third countries.

Stop the Trucks calls for transport of meat instead on transport of live animals.  It demands that the remaining live animal transportation must be limited to 8 hours for mammals and 4 hours for poultry. Take action and sign now

Charities involved in live animal transport campaigns

Compassion in World Farming
Millions of live farm animals are transported thousands of miles for slaughter, or to places where they will be fattened for slaughter.   It's a worldwide problem.  Animals have to endure journeys over long distances then often sea voyages before reaching their destination.  Overcrowding, exhaustion, dehydration, fear and stress are what many animals have to endure.  Take action now.

World Horse Welfare
The charity has a campaign to stop investigating the movement of horses into and out of the UK, including reports of possible export for slaughter, for several years.  Find out more here

RSPCA
Animals such as chickens, cattle, pigs, horses and goats are transported long distances for slaughter across the EU.  Some journeys last for days.  Action is needed urgently to ensure EU regulations to protect the welfare of billions of farm animals.  Get involved here

One thing we can all do is to eat more vegetarian food, so banishing the need for cattle, horses and sheep to be transported at all.
