Help for farm animals in California

Thinking about helping animals, it's easy to think about our own local area and what's happening there.   But it's interesting too to see what is happening elsewhere, miles away, and what help is being given to help animals there.

Animal Place in California is one of the oldest and largest sanctuaries in the US, giving refuge to hundreds of neglected farm animals.  It offers many permanent sanctuary.   Many animals come from farms, slaughterhouses, research facilities, and neglect or cruelty cases.  They find a haven where all their needs are met and their individual quirks respected. Cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, rabbits, and turkeys receive food and shelter, veterinary care and tons of love.  It also places needy farmed animals into permanent homes

As well as giving animals sanctuary, it works to create meaningful change for farmed animals through advocacy and education.  Thousands of visitors head to the sanctuary to learn about the animals and farming.

Here's their wish list and there are plenty of other ways to get involved, even if you live on the other side of the world - become a vegan, find out about the issues, visit, spread the word for them.

Here are two of their animals, Mr G. and Jellybean who have a rather special bond....

Mr. G and Jellybean now have their own Facebook page, and the sanctuary has some wonderful videos on You Tube
