Volunteer with cats and dogs in Cyprus
Rescue in Cyprus Many people dream of moving abroad to enjoy an easier life in the sun but as we all know, things don't always work out in the way we expect. June and Michael moved to Cyprus in June 2002. They were looking forward to a relaxing life by the sea - then they arrived, and - well, now they run a cat and dog rescue. Cyprus Pride House is located in the Troodos Mountains near Limassol, Cyprus. June and Michael rescue abandoned, abused and neglected cats and dogs and find forever homes for them in the UK and the rest of the EU. They also run a programme to neuter and feed street cats and dogs. And they need help in caring for their cats and dogs - giving animal lovers a great opportunity to do something really useful on holiday! Volunteers Needed in Cyprus! June says, "We want people to stay with us and volunteer. They have time off in the afternoon and evenings to go out if they wish and we try to take them out if we get time as some don't hire a car while here. We need volunteers to assist us in the day to day running of our rescued cat and dog shelter which is run from our home. The shelter holds approx 40-70 cats/kittens and could have between 5-20 dogs at a time. Feeding, cleaning, medicating, handling/socialising of animals and dog walking. Accommodation is provided; you would need to arrange own food although some maybe provided. Accommodation is on grounds of shelter so no light sleepers! Volunteers would arrange and pay for their flights and we would do airport transfers if you can cover the petrol, but you would have to speak to us before booking flights to make sure it is an arrival and departure time we can manage during the shelter's busy day. We need hardworking, dedicated, fit/healthy, energetic, trustworthy, reliable people that have a passion for the welfare and care of cats and dogs - and they need to be non-smokers. We have a form they complete once they email us that has more details on it." For more information and ways you can help, visit Cyprus Pride House |
